The component uses a realtime stream between clients visiting your site and the remote server.

In some cases in which the site has a lot of concurrent users and the server has poor resources and bandwidth, you may experience site slowness.

If this is the case, you can change setting for server load showed in the configuration of JChatSocial up to 20%. This will have the effect to reduce the server workload, resources and bandwidth usage.

Keep in mind that if you are using the tool with guest users enabled, concurrent users could be a huge amount if your website has many visitors. This could be the case when you use the chat as a live support tool to offer communication with guest visitors. In such case limiting the chat access to registered users only or to certain areas of your website could reduce drastically server resources used for the chat stream.

If reducing server load you still experience site slowness, consider to upgrade to a more powerful machine or to switch to a fully hosted solution based on external third party services.
