The Google Chrome team is experimenting to give slow websites a new badge of shame in Chrome. This means that if your site is slow, visitors will be warned and could be induced to give it up and navigate away:

The scope of badging is to have a way to encourage website owners to improve site speed. Google could even show a contextual menu on SERP links that will warn users, before they click on it, that a site is slow. The goal of Google is to reward fast sites and penalize slow sites.
