Yes, everything works!
One more detail. Is it possible to override plugin.

I'm asking this in case that there will be update of this plugin, but as this is custom code on next update I will lose whole custom php file.
Is it possible to override this by adding this custom plugin under templates/MYTEMPLATE/html/plg_content_fastsocialshare ?
On next update my custom php file will not be affected.
I have tried solution above but its not working as there is no tpl folder under this plugin.

Any way to solve this?

No Joomla doesn't support overriding of plugins.

However this can be solved even better, i can include this code with a new parameter in the next release of the plugin. Users will be able to choose which working mode to select for the plugin

I think that I am having the same issue with how the social buttons are displayed at the top of articles. When I set the buttons to display on 'both' the buttons at the top are pushing the article text to the right. Is there a way of including the buttons into the article information (article created date, hits, modified date - just below the article title).

It's a different issue.
What happens in your case is that the text after the button is floating around buttons.
So you need to wrap the text for example inside a <div style="clear:both">...</div>
