[SOLVED]Specify sitemap priority for only a few menu links Karma: 0
Hi John,

I got these menu in my data source that contains different items of different importance (or priority - 50%, 60%, 80%, 100%, etc).

It seems that the priority is set the same for an entire source in Jsitemap.

So my question is:
If I have a scenario where one menu link within a complete set of menu links from one menu data source is more important, would I need to exclude this element that I want to change the priority from the set of menu links, then create a NEW data source with only including this desired menu link ?

Thank you,
Regards

Hi Alex,

for menu and categories of Joomla articles the priority can easily be set using the widget in the data source settings, see below screenshots, of course you find more info in the pdf guide.
In this way if a menu is linked to a category of Joomla articles you can easily change the priority for that menu and for all the related articles.

If the menu points to an article category of K2 the priority has to be set at data source scope, thus you should use different data sources to set a higher priority for those K2 articles of interest. For example one data source can include only K2 articles for a certain category with priority 100%, and another can exclude that category and having 50% priority as default for all other categories.

John

thank you john. I am in K2 for all my content, so I'll go with the include/exclude configuration.

Do menu items automatically affect K2 items for priorities?

Because I have these K2 Items that are high priority under menu items. Should I only configure the menu item, the K2 item linked to that menu item, or both?

Yes you need to configure both because menu and K2 items are on different data sources. Set the priority in the menu data source for the main item and after that in the data source of K2 of interest for that category.

John
