Hi Bob,

the lastmod normally is a help for Google to understand how fresh is the content and help to index more correctly all links.
However if you want to remove it from the XML sitemap, the best choice would be remove the tag from the files used by the component to render the sitemap, or even better configure a template override for those view files to avoid overring when updating.
