Hello,

if you mean that sh404sef doesn't throw its own page 404 and you have configured sh404sef as 'Use Joomla router' for the JMap entry in the configuration of sh404sef 'By component', try to choose 'Leave as non-sef' instead of 'Use Joomla router' for the JMap entry.
