We are getting this error from Google Webmaster Tools:

Your Sitemap contains too many URLs. Please create multiple Sitemaps with up to 50000 URLs each and submit all Sitemaps.

How can we create multiple sitemaps? we have only one source which is Content.

Hello Bashar,

Google is right because the max number of links of a sitemap is 50.000
If you have more links you have to split the big sitemap, JSitemap has the splitting feature.
This is explained in the PDF docs at the paragraph 'Sitemap splitting'

After that i advice to limit the content data source and submit also a dynamic sitemap for recent articles to help Google to index quickly new articles. This technique is explained in the PDF docs at the paragraph 'Manage dynamic + static sitemap'

Thank you for your quick reply.

We have tried several time; from different PC's and internet connection to export sitemap as mentioned in the document but we always end with download error.

Any another way to split sitemap?

Hi Bashar,

i don't know the exact amount of links on your site, but if for example you have 150.000 links generating a whole sitemap in a single operation will result in a server error. This is normal because the script timeouts thus you receive the error.

For this reason JSitemap has the precaching AJAX generation to generate by steps giant sitemaps. This is explained in the PDF docs at the paragraph 'Precaching and AJAX generation'. This must be done to complement the export as splitted sitemap, and before of this operation.

Thus the correct steps are:

1. Generate the full sitemap with AJAX precaching
2. Export it with the splitting enabled
3. Upload all the chunks and submit the sitemap index to Google

We have generated sitemaps with 500.000 links with this technique, then splitted and exported in chunks of 40.000 links.
