Hello

We used to have a Menalto Gallery for our images on our homepage. We have moved all our pictures to Flickr and deleted the old gallery.
Now we are getting about 2000 not found 404 errors. I put a disallow /gallery3/ into the robots file, is there something else I can do?
The error links look like the following: http://www.mydomain.com/gallery3/index.php/image_block/random/3198

Hello Roger,

the question looks a bit out of topic not directly related to sitemaps.

However if you have removed an extension from Joomla also links should not be generated anymore on the website. If links were still present Google would be able to continue to index them, reporting an error if the page is a 404 being the component not found.

What i suggest is:

- Ensure that links are no more present in the website
- Ensure that links are no more present in the sitemap too
- Block them using the robots.txt like you have already done
- Mark all errors as fixed in Google Webmasters

Thanks for your answer, of course you are right, it doesn't have to do with site map.
The links were never present in the jsitemap site map.
