Hello everyone,

Sorry to bother you but just as the title suggests, we're having problems with our sitemaps.

We've created a XML sitemap and submitted it to Google. Usually this is fine but today when we've done it, Google is showing the error 'Your Sitemap appears to be an HTML page. Please use a supported sitemap format instead.'.

Has anyone else experienced this? We're using JSitemap Pro 2.3.1

Hello James,

it could depend on several factors, most often not related directly to JSitemap component but for example to sh404sef configuration or other extensions installed. Of course i assume that you are submitting the correct link for the XML sitemap and not the link for HTML sitemap.

By the way your version is too old and your subscription is expired on 28/07/2015

Thank you for getting back to me.

I've just purchased the latest version and installed it however when I try and view the XML version of the sitemap, I get this error:

This page contains the following errors:

error on line 2 at column 6: XML declaration allowed only at the start of the document
Below is a rendering of the page up to the first error.

Any ideas? :0(

Hi James,

yes it means that you have some bugged plugins adding extra space at the top of the Joomla output thus invalidating the XML document.

If you see the raw XML source you will notice a white space or carriage return at the top of the XML document.
