Sitemap generates all url's Karma: 0
Hi, I just purchased your product. I work with sh404sef on joomla 2.5. I enabled the joomla router in sh404sef.
The xml sitemap also generates all urls's that are already rewritten through the sh404sef component. So the sitemap generates to much url's.

Do i miss something in the configuration?

Hi Raul,

not sure if you mean 'to much' as 'too much' urls.

If so, the number of URL's is not related to sh404sef but mainly on your site contents.
Of course the challenge of a sitemap is have as much urls as possible. More urls a sitemap contains, better indexing your site will have.

By the way JSitemap supports exclusions if you need to get rid of some links from your sitemap.

Please explain me better if i'm missing or misunderstanding something.

Best regards

John

Re:Sitemap generates all url's Karma: 0
Hello John,

I just switched from xmap to jmap. What I see is that xmap only grabs the rewritten url's from sh404sef and jmap also the previous url.

Example;
http://www.hollandhardware.com/en/brands-en/avaya

Is rewritten through sh404sef to;
http://www.hollandhardware.com/en/sell-new-used-and-refurbished-apc

The generated sitemap of jmap has both url's in it. What is google thinking of uploading a sitemap with two different url's pointing to the same page? Is that not duplicate content?

Raoul

Hello Raoul,

if the links point to same page it will be a duplicated content.
I'm not sure about your setup using sh404sef, it seems that the 2 links: http://www.hollandhardware.com/en/brands-en/avaya

and
http://www.hollandhardware.com/en/sell-new-used-and-refurbished-apc

point to different contents.

However the fact that you get more links or 2 version of links could be due to the power of JSitemap to include links directly from contents also if not linked to menu.

Of course if this in your case lead to duplicated links, exclude that links or try to unpublish the data source for contents,

Best regards,
John

I've looked at your site, just as an addition the duplicated links will be these:
http://www.hollandhardware.com/en/brands-en/avaya

and
http://www.hollandhardware.com/en/sells-new-used-and-refurbished-avaya

The link used directly from menu will be the second, so in this case you can safely exclude the first version from sitemap.

Best regards

Hello John,

Yes you where right. I misspelled the second url.

How to exclude links?

And is it not possible for you to add a functionality that it only grabs the rewritten urls' from sh404sef just as xmap does?

Raoul
