JSitemap Pro Not Saving Meta Descriptions? 2 Years, 2 Months ago Karma: 1
Let me qualify this post by admitting I am still trying to understand exactly how all the aspects fo JSitemap Pro are supposed to work, and it is entirely plausible that what I am about to post is my misunderstanding how this feature is intended. That said...

Experimenting with the Search Engine Meta Info tab, I was able to auto-populate the meta descriptions from my articles.

When I overwrote one of the meta descriptions and saved it, I witnessed the following:

1) The SEO Spider tool confirmed the update.
2) The Joomla article meta description was not updated (possibly by design?)
3) Viewing the page source in Chrome ( the same browser I was accessing the backend from) confirmed the change
4) However, opening a fresh browser and viewing source showed no change
5) Remote team members could not confirm the changes (not displaying in their page source review)

I cleared the server cache and browser cache multiple times, with no change.

Therefore, it doesn't seem that it is actually updating the site, but only updating the changes in the tool and possible local browser memory.

I suspect there is some operator error at play here.
What am I missing?

Thanks, in advance for any nudge in the right direction.

Regards,
SL

Assumed that you have no caching, probably you are using a mismatch URL when accessing that page with another browser/team member.

Metainfo are associated to each link, if links change metainfo change/won't apply.

If you specify metainfo for http://www.mysite.com/ and open http://mysite.com/ without www prefix they won't apply, it's a different link.

The same happens if you specify metainfo for links without SEF rewriting http://www.mysite.com/index.php/mypage.html and access them as http://www.mysite.com/mypage.html activating the Joomla SEF rewriting.

The same happens if you specify metainfo for links starting with https https://www.mysite.com/index.php/mypage.html and access them as http://www.mysite.com/mypage.html

Every time a link changes the meta data associations is lost. Keep in mind that the URL is the unique identifier for meta data.

Metainfo are an override system, they won't change the metadata in the Joomla article and database, yes this is by design.

Best regards
