Hi

1. So far it looks like the 48px was a missing option in jchat confign but in Kunena it's supported. Contact me by email and i iwll send you a JChat package having 48px option

2. No. The avatar of JChat must be always 32px independently from the source size. If you change the chat layout could be broken. They are managed by the javascript script root/components/com_jchat/js/main.js
