Dear guys,

great work. I bought JChatSocial 2 days ago.

I still using joomla 1.5 and plan to migrate to j3.x next year. So I forced to use JChat-version 2.0 at the moment.

Now my problem:
Not all of my webseite users like to use chat. But by default the are online and will be seen by others.
I can't find a property in the config to turn the default mode to "offline" and so I tried to edit some php Files to set the status to offline, if the status is not explicitly set to online. But without success.

Could you give me a idea, a hint or better an instruction to do that?

Hello Michael,

thanks for your post.
Of course using the latest version with Joomla 3 will give you access to all the latest features.

By the way my advice to exclude users, is using Joomla ACL and access levels.
The chat is based on a system plugin, so it would be enough assign the plugin to a different access level to make the chat appear only to specific users.
Of course Joomla 1.5 still lacks dynamic ACL and by default you have only 3 predefined public/registered/special

John, thank you for your quick response.

Maybe there is a misunderstanding. The deciding to use the chat or not should be made by user, not by me.
So my idea is, that if i logged into the website the chat is offline by default. Then every user want to use the chat can turn it on.

Hope that's a little bit more understandable.

Yes Michael, now i understand something more.

The chat can be switched off using the chat options in frontend by user, but there is no feature to make it start offline by default, only to make it start closed, but not offilne. To be offline a user have to click on the frontend option to turn off chat.

You need a customization for this, if you have some skills about javascript i can try yo point you out.
