I want to change the background colour for the main menu and the top menu to a shade of purple.

There have been other threads which talk about changing the css in main.css and also the background css is the css/themes folder.

Problem is I can't fathom what in those css files to change.

For instance the background colour for the blue theme is #0077bb just looking at it in an image editor.

However there is nowhere that this colour occurs in the css files that I can find.

Where do I look?

using the latest version 2.2 of Responsivizer there is no more need to edit the css to change colors of the top menu from the default blue #0077bb

Everything is managed by the configuration settings.

Opening the template settings you will find parameters to change menu/titles color.

Ok that changes the top menu background colour. However the background colour for main menu items is still that aqua blue. Where is the setting to change that?

Eventually post here an image and the link to your site so that i can understand clearly which background color you want to change and point out the correct css.

I'm asking about the colour that makes the background to a normal menu item when you mouse over it on the Home page. When you select Blue as the Typography colour style its an aqua colour. Red is a more maroon background etc. I would like to nominate the exact typography colour rather than the limited selection provided.

Ok i understand, the hover color for menu is included in the additional CSS files for colors variation.
For example the default 'blue' variation uses this file: /templates/responsivizer/css/themes/typography/blue.css

You will find that the default blue color for the background when hovering menu items is managed by this CSS rule:
