Joomla Hit counter Karma: 0
Hello,
It would seem that our article hits, and blog hits (within Joomla itself) are much higher than they should be. Could the JRealtime Analytics' js be infating the numbers?

If I have the developer console open on any page, looking at the network pane - the analytics .js keeps doing a post about every 8 seconds.

Thanks for your time!

Re:Joomla Hit counter Karma: 79
Hello Chris,

no that's not the case because the JRealtime stream uses the json format to communicate with the server and with Joomla.

The Joomla hits counter is incremented only when HTML page requests are done, looking at the hits number for a certain article while JRealtime is doing posts it won't be incremented.

Greetings,

John

Thanks John,
I was hoping for a different answer - now I have to figure out why all the counters are incrementing so quickly.

Thanks for your time,
Chris

Happy to be helpful Chris,

I would suggest to check a log for regular page view, when Joomla answer with an HTML response.
In that case the hit counter for articles is refreshed (you can test pressing F5)

A possible explanation could be traffic by bots, etc

John
