Hello Jürgen,

no you don't need a static sitemap.xml file at the root of your site. This is explained in more details at this FAQ: http://storejextensions.org/faq/when-i-add-new-contents-is-my-sitemap-updated-automatically.html

The sitemaps are generated dynamically, search engines are able to find the link for the sitemap through the robots.txt
