Please don't mix things.

One thing is <image:loc> tag, that's part of a sitemap! That's an XML tag and must only be part of the images sitemap format!

Another thing is a META TAG og:image that must be part of a page HTML, there is a feature of the Meta Info Dashboard that lets you specify a specific image for each link. So that image will be injected using the meta tag og:image.

But still. This can't be filled by hand when I have more than 30k articles on database. News agencies drop batches of news every 15 min and local news generate about 120 news articles per weekday.

OK, not mixing thing but still haven't been solved.

back to jmap_metainfo table on the database, it isn't being filled automatically and I need this to work so I can get the og:image tag populated by your component and not a third party.

This third party plugin solved partially the issue, it isn't cleaning the accented characters on titles, so some images' links will be broken. This isn't yours to solve, but as you recommended it, I'm informing what happened.

Back to our issue: How do we make this work properly?

Well that's the purpouse of this feature, filling in each link by hand with specific values. Managing automatically the og:image meta tag is not intended using my extension so that's not possible and out of scope. For this reason i pointed out to use a dedicated plugin such as http://extensions.joomla.org/extension/simple-facebook-meta that does this automatically.

But i think you are misunderstanding this issue from the beginning.

First of all it's not related i n any way to our component and to the sitemap. So you won't never solve this issue posting here of using the sitemap component.

Secondly, i'm of the opinion that you won't even solve it using the og:image meta tag. Your first post pointed out that you wanted to remove a link associated to the image in the Google News SERP. If so, you need to understand if it's possible and how it's possible to manipulate the way that Google builds Google News SERP.

As far as i know there are a lot of complex ways used by Google to do this and i ignore them.
