If you can't increase the server timeout settings use the precaching with a low limit as showed in this video tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lTvnoiFXPKk&list=PL6t5xIMeFJ2JG3OQASXPLi5YrFduVGWq3&index=1

Moreover if the images sitemap doesn't produce any image, it could be the case that the hosting provider disallow loopback connections as explained in the FAQ. In such case ask them, to be sure about this issue you can use the 'Crawler test' button, if it doesn't load your home page it means that the crawler can't work.
