I think there's some confusion and I believe it's my fault that I wasn't clear enough.

If a person puts Product X in their cart 1 time, then 1 instance of shipping is calculated. If they put Product X in 5 times, 5 instances of shipping are calculated -- it does not matter if the syntax for that item specifies Single or Multiple for shipping.

However: I do believe I've tracked down the reason for this. In Extensions > Plugin Management > Content - InstantPaypal, if 'Type of Shipping Amount' is set to Multiple it will override whatever is specified on individual product details -- contrary to what it's supposed to be doing.

Thank you for explaining the email situation; I see now why by default it's disabled. Paypal will send an email to the seller once a purchase has gone through so I'll disable the plugin's option for email again, I think.
