- New Disqus (XML) import adapter: import comments directly from a Disqus export, automatically matching each Disqus thread to the corresponding Joomla article by URL alias, rebuilding the full parent/reply comment hierarchy, and linking guest authors to existing Joomla user accounts when the name match is unambiguous
- New Guest Avatar Gallery: administrators can enable an image gallery of avatars that non-logged-in visitors can pick from when posting a comment, independent from the existing avatar system used for registered users; the last avatar picked is remembered for the visitor's session so it's pre-selected on their next comment
- New colored-initials fallback avatar (Disqus-style): when no picture avatar is available for a commenter, JComment can now generate a colored circle with the person's initials instead of a generic placeholder
- Fixed missing article title/link in the backend Comments and Objects list for comments imported through the migration tools
- Fixed missing avatar column in some frontend comment queries (comment form and "latest comments" module)
- Various bug fixes and stability improvements
HOW DISQUS IMPORT WORKS
- Export your comments from Disqus (Disqus admin panel -> Export -> you'll receive a .xml file by email)
- Upload that .xml file into your Joomla site's /tmp folder (via FTP or your hosting file manager) - no need to rename it, any .xml file recognized as a Disqus export is picked up automatically
- Go to Components -> JComment -> Import comments: a new "Disqus (XML)" source will appear with the number of comments ready to be imported
- Click Import. Only comments belonging to a Disqus thread that matches an existing Joomla article (by URL alias) are imported - Disqus threads with no matching article are skipped
- Guest commenters are imported as guests unless their Disqus display name matches exactly one existing Joomla user account, in which case the comment is linked to that account
